Whilst your departure is still
some time away, we wanted to let you know about a change to your itinerary and
give you all the details as soon as possible.
What’s changed?
We’ve made two updates to your
itinerary:
- 2 November:
Our overnight visit to Kavala will be replaced with Thessaloniki
- 5 November: Our planned visit to Samos will be replaced with a call to Kos
Why are we making these change?
We know how much this cruise
means to you, and we understand changes can feel disappointing. Please be
assured these adjustments have been made with your experience firmly in mind.
We’ve chosen Kos as Balmoral will
be able to dock alongside the pier, making it easier and more comfortable for
you to go ashore compared with Samos, which would have required tendering.
We’ve also selected Thessaloniki as it will offer a richer overall experience,
with more to see and do, allowing you to make the most of your time ashore.
Why have we chosen these
destinations?
Thessaloniki,
Greece’s second city, is rich in layers of history shaped by Greek, Roman,
Byzantine and Ottoman influences. Alongside its impressive ancient monuments,
it’s well known for its vibrant food scene and lively markets. With so much to
see and savour, even two days here may not feel quite long enough to uncover
everything it has to offer.
You’ll
still be able to explore the beautiful city of Kavala, either independently or
as part of an organised tour. The city is around a 90‑minute journey from
Thessaloniki.
Kos is a
beautiful Dodecanese island, best known as the birthplace of Hippocrates, the
father of modern medicine. Located in the southeastern Aegean Sea, close to the
coast of Bodrum in Turkey, the island blends Greek and Roman heritage with a
relaxed atmosphere. Long beaches, fascinating archaeological sites and a
vibrant local culture make it a wonderful place to explore at a gentle pace. We’re also pleased to confirm
our scenic cruising of Mount Athos remains unchanged.
