Newcastle - Port of Tyne accessibility overview

Car parking
  1. Booking: Must be arranged directly with us at the time of booking. The details required are:
    1. Registration number & car make.
    2. If you hold a blue badge (blue badge spaces are on a 1st come, 1st served basis).
  2. Location: Car park is approximately 100 metres to the right of the terminal.
  3. Luggage: Collected from guests at the car park before they walk to the terminal.

Note: No wheelchair assistance is provided in the car park.
Terminal facilities
  1. Drop-off: Directly outside the terminal entrance; porters available for luggage.
  2. Refreshments: No café or paid refreshment options.
  3. Access: All guests must use a shuttle bus (approx. 3-minute ride) for both embarkation and disembarkation. Walking within the port is not permitted.
Check-in
  1. Assistance is available from inside the terminal only.
  2. Own Wheelchair: Guests can be pushed through check-in and security to the shuttle bus.
  3. Port Wheelchair guests are pushed to check-in & must walk to the desk for a mobility assessment. Once cleared, they can return to the wheelchair and be pushed through security to the shuttle bus.
  4. Shuttle Bus: All buses are equipped with ramps and lowering mechanisms for wheelchairs and scooters.
Disembarkation
  1. Guests who have a pre-booked taxi or are being picked up will need to cross the road to the car park on the opposite side of the road upon leaving the terminal.
  2. There is a taxi rank directly outside of the terminal building.
  3. Guests that have booked the car park will collect their luggage from the car park.
