Important Updates for Your Cruise S2702S1

The countdown to our Hawaii, Japan & The Wonders of Asia Cruise is well underway.

We’re getting in touch with a few updates about your voyage, including your departure from Southampton, our calls in Japan & Hong Kong, and some additional visa information.

There’s nothing to worry about, we just want to keep you fully informed.

Our departure from Southampton and arrival into Lisbon

On 21st January 2027, we’ll now be departing Southampton at 22:30, allowing us to load all the provisions needed for this incredible voyage.

There’ll be no change to check-in times, evening meals or entertainment.

Because of the later departure, we’ll now arrive in Lisbon, our first port of call, at 11am on 24th January, and depart at 6pm.

If you’ve booked a shore tour or excursion with us, some will now run over lunchtime. If yours does, you’ll still have plenty of dining options when you arrive back on Borealis including:

  1. Fresco
  2. Poolside Cafe &
  3. Afternoon Tea

If you’ve booked a tour or excursion independently, please let your provider know about the change.

Tokyo

Day 1: Tokyo Marathon Day

You’ll arrive to the buzz of the Tokyo Marathon, with runners and supporters filling the streets.

It’s a special occasion and the atmosphere is fantastic, but it will have an impact on how quickly you can get around this metropolis.

If you’re planning to explore independently, we recommend using Tokyo’s public transport and allowing extra time for your journeys.

The nearest station, Tokyo International Cruise Terminal Station, is an 8-minute walk from the ship.

  1. Large areas of central Tokyo will be affected by rolling road closures.
  2. Some pedestrian routes and crossings may be temporarily restricted.
  3. Public transport is expected to be busier than normal and journeys may take longer
  4. Follow advice from local authorities, station staff and marathon officials.

As we’re visiting Tokyo overnight, the gangway will be down all night, giving you plenty of time to explore and immerse yourself.

We’ll have a local on board to help explain how to best navigate the Tokyo transportation system – details will be provided in your Daily Times, delivered to your cabin each evening.

Hong Kong

We’re sad to say, local authorities have told us the famous Symphony of Lights will be retired later this year.

Whilst we know this may be disappointing, there’s plenty to experience in Hong Kong, from its famous skyline and vibrant culture to the worlclass shopping and dining.

China visas - only applicable to guests who’ve booked a tour or excursion

For guests who’ve booked a tour or excursion in China, please note we’re closely monitoring advice from the government about new visa requirements.

Nothing has yet been confirmed, however, be assured, once we know more we’ll be in touch right away.

And that’s it from us for now, we’ll be back in touch later this month with more details about your voyage, including the entertainment you can look forward too.

With warm regards
