Can I scatter ashes at sea?

Memorial Commemoration at Sea
  1. If you wish to honour the memory of a loved one at sea, please ensure this service is pre-booked.
  2. We understand how meaningful it can be to honour a loved one during your voyage. Guests are welcome to bring cremated remains or a commemorative wreath on board, with the opportunity to hold a private service at sea.
Container requirements
  1. Ashes must be in a secure, leakproof, sealed container
  2. If the container is to be dispersed, it must be certified biodegradable
  3. Wreath Guidelines; No ribbons, balloons, imitation flowers or plastic adornments
  4. A small amount of wire or non-plastic string is permitted
  5. Onboard Protocol; Ashes must remain onboard until the service
  6. A senior crew member will supervise the commemoration
  7. The ship must be at least 12 nautical miles from land
  8. The date, time and location will be arranged with the ship’s management
  9. Due to space limitations, the number of attendees may be restricted
